[WIL:141:] Accoding to Schrodinger working to answer the "... baffling questions 'Who are we really? Where have I come from and were am I going? ... the most appreciable help science has offered us in this is, in my view, the idealization of time" (look at the The Fabric of the Cosmos) The three people Schrodinger attributes the most profound insights to are Plato, Kant, Einstein . In particular, what impresses S is the Theory of Forms (or ideas) originated by Parmenides but really refined by Plato into the power of ideas and mathematical truths that will las for ever, independent of who thinks about them.

Robert Oppenheimer's pronouncement at Trinity]; again invoking Schopenhauer [in the EPILOGUE chapter "On Determinism and Free Will"].

WIL:123.2* It is very difficult for us to take stock of the fact that the localization of the personality, of the conscious mind, inside the body is only symbolic, just an aid for practical use ... this is a theme ES develops -- that the locus of self or personality, is not necessarily in the body ... this takes some getting used to. Gotta watch these Quantum Mechanicians ... it also suggests further investigation of multiple personalities, split personalities, artificial personalities, and imaginary personalities. Did ES ever communicate with Lena? I wonder what Lena's take on this would be?
